The first NMT session will focus on getting to know you, finding
out what your needs are and looking for the cause of your
discomfort. This is done by taking a client history and conducting
a postural analysis. It’s a good idea to bring along a pair
of shorts or jogging pants for the postural analysis as this
includes muscle testing and range of movement tests to find
out how your muscles function.
Your first session will include some form of hands-on treatment
but the focus is on gathering information to create an effective
treatment plan specifically for you.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you’ll need depends on how long you’ve
had your condition, but the average is four to six. You’ll
also be given homecare stretches and strengthening exercises
to do inbetween sessions, and these will speed up your rehabilitation.
